Looking for a MetroFax Alternative? — Me Fax Too
MetroFax is owned by Consensus Cloud Solutions, the same parent company as eFax and MyFax. Its site redirects through a GDPR interstitial, so we could not verify current prices. Me Fax Too is independent fax software for small teams: 10 users included, one shared page pool, free for three months.
Last updated: July 2026 Free 3-month beta
Who owns MetroFax?
MetroFax is a Consensus Cloud Solutions brand. So is eFax. So is MyFax. If you have been shortlisting all three to find the best deal, you are comparing one company with itself. That is not a criticism of the product — it is a fact worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on a spreadsheet of three vendors that share an owner.

What MetroFax does well
Scale, longevity, and infrastructure you can rely on
MetroFax has been in the market for a long time and sits inside Consensus Cloud Solutions, a public company whose entire business is document delivery. That means real fax infrastructure, real carrier relationships, and a support organisation that will still exist in five years. For a business that faxes daily and cannot tolerate an outage, buying from an incumbent is a reasonable, conservative choice.
Being part of a large group also means a mature feature set built over many years — the sort of long tail of options that a new product simply has not written yet. If your workflow depends on a specific integration or archive behaviour that MetroFax already supports, that is a genuine reason to stay.
When you should choose MetroFax instead
Choose MetroFax, not us, if any of these is true:
- You need to keep your current fax number. We do not port numbers.
- You handle protected health information and need a signed BAA. Me Fax Too is not HIPAA compliant.
- You need to send Word documents, spreadsheets, or images without converting them. We accept PDF only.
- You need a mobile app. We are a web application; there is no iOS or Android app.
- You fax outside the United States and Canada. Our beta sending list covers those two countries.
- You want a vendor with a decade-long track record rather than a product in beta. That is a fair thing to want.
Seat math for an 8-person office
Online fax has traditionally been sold as one number for one account. That model starts to hurt the moment more than one person needs to send.
We cannot run the MetroFax arithmetic for you, because MetroFax does not publish per-user pricing on a page we could reach in July 2026 — the site redirects through a GDPR interstitial. What we can tell you is the shape of the problem. In the single-account model, eight people either share one login (which destroys any audit trail of who sent what) or you buy multiple accounts (which multiplies the bill and splits your fax history across eight inboxes).
Me Fax Too includes 10 users in one company account, so an 8-person office fits with two seats spare. Everyone has their own login and role. Admins decide who may send. There is one shared page pool for the whole company covering both inbound and outbound, and one shared contact list, so nobody re-types the same fax number. Past 10 users the planned rate is $2.79 per additional user per month; nothing is billed during the three-month beta.
Note one thing plainly, because it matters for an 8-person office: admins can see every fax the company sends and receives, including faxes sent by other users. If that is not what you want, do not buy us.
Switching from MetroFax
We do not offer number porting. Your MetroFax number cannot move to Me Fax Too. If your fax number is printed on forms that are already in circulation and you cannot change it, this product will not work for you.
If you want to port a number away from MetroFax to a carrier that runs porting itself, look at Telnyx. We are not affiliated with them and receive nothing for that link.
If a new number is acceptable: sign up, activate the free beta, choose your own number from the available list — we do not auto-assign one — and send your first fax. Then update the number wherever it is published, and tell the handful of organisations that actually fax you. Download anything you need from your MetroFax archive before you close the account; we cannot import your old fax history.
Run both services in parallel for a month. It is the cheapest way to find out who was still faxing your old number.
Questions people ask
Is MetroFax the same company as eFax?
They share a parent. MetroFax, eFax, and MyFax are all Consensus Cloud Solutions brands. They are marketed as separate products with separate sites and separate prices.
How much does MetroFax cost?
We could not verify it in July 2026. The site redirects through a GDPR interstitial, so we did not reach a price page we could quote with confidence. We would rather say that than print a number we cannot stand behind.
Is Me Fax Too HIPAA compliant?
No. We are not HIPAA compliant and we do not sign business associate agreements. Do not use Me Fax Too for protected health information.
How many users do I get?
Ten, in one shared company account, each with their own role and send permissions.
What can I send?
PDF only. Export or print other formats to PDF first.
What does the beta cost?
Nothing for three months, and no credit card is required. Final pricing will be announced before your three months end.
