Three brands, one parent company

MyFax, eFax, and MetroFax are all owned by Consensus Cloud Solutions. Three websites, three brand names, one owner.

This is a neutral fact, not an accusation. Multi-brand portfolios are ordinary in software, and each brand can have its own plans, its own support, and its own price list. But it changes what a shortlist means. A buyer who lines up eFax against MyFax against MetroFax believes they are running a three-vendor bake-off. They are running a one-vendor bake-off with three price lists.

If your goal is genuine vendor diversity — a different company, a different billing relationship, a different roadmap — you need at least one name on the list from outside that group.

What MyFax does well

An established brand with a large parent behind it

MyFax has been faxing documents for small businesses for many years, and it is backed by Consensus Cloud Solutions, a public company whose whole business is document exchange. That buys you fax infrastructure that has been running a long time, carrier relationships you never have to think about, and a support desk that is not going to disappear.

Being one of several brands under one roof is also an operational advantage for them: the same underlying delivery network serves all of it. If reliability is your first criterion and you would rather buy from an incumbent than a newcomer, MyFax is a defensible choice and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

When you should choose MyFax instead

Choose MyFax, not us, if any of these is true:

You must keep your existing fax number. We do not offer porting.
You handle protected health information and need a signed BAA. Me Fax Too is not HIPAA compliant.
You want to send Word files, spreadsheets, or images directly. We accept PDF only.
You need a mobile app. Me Fax Too is a web application; there is no iOS or Android app.
You fax outside the United States and Canada. Our beta sending list covers those two countries.
You are one person, not a team. Our whole design is a shared company account for several people. A single-user product may suit you better and cost less.

Seat math for an 8-person office

Traditional online fax is sold as one number, one mailbox, one login. Eight people do not fit in that shape.

We cannot show MyFax arithmetic, because MyFax does not publish per-user pricing on a page we could verify in July 2026. What we can describe is the choice an 8-person office faces with any single-account fax product. Either everyone shares one login — in which case you have no record of who sent what, and offboarding somebody means changing a password everyone uses — or you buy eight accounts, in which case you pay eight times and your fax history is scattered across eight separate inboxes with no company-wide view.

Me Fax Too includes 10 users in one company account. Eight people fit with two spare. Each person has their own login and role, admins control who is allowed to send, and there is one shared page pool covering both inbound and outbound for the whole company, plus one shared contact list. Unused pages roll over: up to 50 per month carry forward, capped at a 60-page accumulation. Past 10 users the planned rate is $2.79 per additional user per month; nothing is billed during the three-month beta.

State the trade-off honestly: admins can see every fax the company sends and receives, including those sent by other users. That is deliberate — it is what gives you the audit trail — but if your team expects private faxing from their colleagues' manager, tell them first.

Switching from MyFax

We do not offer number porting. Your MyFax number cannot come with you to Me Fax Too, and a Me Fax Too number cannot be taken away. If your published fax number cannot change, this is not the product for you and no amount of feature comparison fixes that.

If a new number is fine: sign up, activate the free beta, choose your own number from the available list — numbers are never auto-assigned here — and send. Then change the number on your letterhead, website, forms, and email signature, and notify the organisations that actually fax you. Export anything you still need from your MyFax archive before closing that account; we do not import fax history from other providers.

Overlap the two services for a month. It costs one more MyFax bill and it tells you exactly who was still sending to the old number.
