Why does iFax show two different prices?
If you have been comparing fax services you may have seen iFax quoted at $8.33 a month in one place and $12.49 a month in another. Both figures come from iFax.
The $12.49 is the monthly rate shown on the iFax pricing page. The $8.33 appears on iFax's own comparison pages, where they are quoting the annualised rate — what the monthly cost works out to if you pay for a year up front, with their 20% annual discount applied.
Neither number is wrong, but they are not the same thing, and the lower one is the one iFax uses when comparing itself to competitors. If you are budgeting month to month, $12.49 is the number that will appear on your card. Both were checked in July 2026.
What iFax does well
Genuine strengths, stated fairly
- HIPAA compliance with a BAA from the Plus tier. If you handle protected health information, this alone rules us out and rules them in.
- Number porting in the US, UK and Canada — you can bring your existing fax number. We cannot do this.
- Broad file-type support. iFax accepts multiple document formats; we accept PDF only.
- International coverage well beyond our United States and Canada beta footprint.
- Mobile apps. iFax ships native mobile applications. We are web only.
- A large, genuinely useful comparison library. Their comparison hub covers most vendors in the category, including pages about competitors they are not party to.
When you should choose iFax instead of us
We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us. Choose iFax if any of these apply:
- You handle health information and need HIPAA compliance and a signed BAA. We are not HIPAA compliant. Do not use us for that work.
- You need to keep your existing fax number. We do not offer porting.
- You need to send Word documents, spreadsheets or images without converting them to PDF first.
- You fax outside the United States and Canada.
- You need a native mobile app rather than a browser.
- You are one person, not a team. A single user on iFax Plus at $24.99/mo may suit you better than a product designed around shared team accounts.
What does iFax cost for an office of eight?
This is where the two products differ most. iFax Basic and Plus each include one user, so an eight-person office cannot simply buy one Plus plan and share it — you are looking at the Pro or Enterprise tier, and iFax does not publish the Pro price (checked July 2026), so an eight-person quote requires contacting them.
Me Fax Too includes 10 users in one shared company account. Eight people, one account, one shared page pool covering both inbound and outbound, and a shared company contacts list. The planned rate for an eleventh user and beyond is $2.79 per user per month — that is the intended model, not a live price, since the beta is free.
The honest caveat: if only one person in your office ever sends a fax, this advantage does not apply to you, and a single-user plan somewhere else may be cheaper.
How do you switch from iFax?
- Sign up for the free three-month beta. No credit card is required.
- Verify your email address.
- Activate your beta, then choose your own fax number — numbers are not assigned for you.
- Add your team, up to 10 users, and set who is allowed to send.
- Download anything you need to keep from iFax before you close that account.
About your existing number. We do not offer number porting, so you cannot bring your iFax number to us. You would get a new number that you pick yourself. If keeping your current number is essential, we are not the right service — iFax supports porting, or you can look at Telnyx directly.
Questions people ask
Is Me Fax Too cheaper than iFax?
During the three-month beta it is free, so yes. After that we cannot answer honestly yet — final pricing has not been announced. It will be published before any beta account reaches its end date, and there is no automatic charge.
Can iFax receive faxes on the cheapest plan?
No. iFax Basic at $12.49 a month is send-only. Receiving requires the Plus plan at $24.99 a month, which includes one fax number (source, verified July 2026).
Is Me Fax Too HIPAA compliant like iFax?
No. We are not HIPAA compliant and we do not offer a Business Associate Agreement. If you handle protected health information, use iFax's Plus tier or another vendor that offers a BAA.
Can I fax a Word document?
Not with us — we accept PDF only. Most applications can export or print to PDF, but if you need to send other formats directly, iFax supports them.
What happens if my team grows past 10 people?
The planned model is $2.79 per additional user per month. That is the intended pricing, not a live charge — the beta is free and final pricing is still being set.
